APPLICATION
Please complete the contact form if you would like to apply to go on the waiting list.
NOTE: We are unable to add your child to the list before their 4th birthday.
There is often a waiting list for joining each section. To avoid disappointment, please let us have your details as soon as possible. We will contact you when a place becomes available.
Our waiting lists are growing rapidly so we have had to introduce a policy to decide how we allocate spaces as they become available.
On occasion, the number of people wanting to join the group in any section exceeds the number we can sensibly take on and still deliver high quality Scouting, so we need to run waiting lists.
With the need to manage these waiting lists and to enable the group to manage the peaks and troughs of children moving between the sections within the group the following waiting list policy has been agreed:
Spaces within the group will be allocated in the following order of priority to children:
1. A young person who is already a member of the 1st Emsworth Scout Group and is moving up to the next Section i.e. Beavers to Cubs; Cubs to Scouts. We feel it is important that a person, once they have embarked on their Scouting adventure, is able to see through their Scouting time with their local Group and progress through their badges and awards without interruption.
2. A young person whose parent/guardian is already volunteering as Section Leader, Section Assistant or another formal role in supporting our Group. No Group can exist without volunteers, and we feel that it is reasonable that someone who is willing to invest time in supporting the Scouting should be able to include their children.
3. A young person whose parent/guardian newly volunteers to actively help our Group volunteering as Section Leader, Section Assistant or another formal role in supporting our Group. The level of commitment required will be determined at local Group level, but will be expected to be reliable and sustainable.
4. A person with one or more siblings who are already members of our Group. Siblings of existing members would undoubtedly feel left out if they were not able to experience the same fun that they see their brother or sister enjoying. Parents must still register each child on the waiting list.
5. A person who has moved into the area due to family relocation, so that they now live closer to 1st Emsworth Scout Group than any other group, and who has previously been actively involved in Scouting in their previous local community.
6. Time on waiting list. It is appropriate that, having got this far down the criteria, a place should be offered to the person who has been waiting longest for a place to become available.
The group membership secretary will hold the records of all children who are on the groups waiting list and will regularly liaise with the leaders of all sections
